    I remember there was a bbs that I connected to that had all green text
    for everything. I remember it had something to do with global in its
    name. Also are there any bbs that have just text and no flashy menu's?

    That’s got to be Major BBS. It had a terminal program, called world group manager. I think it adapted the name world group. It was a pretty flashy BBS software especially when their world group manager software.
