Hello, All.over
Over the years, having the fairly large family tree my father had gathered
the years, in addition to my own reasearch on my own family, my son's, my wife's, and my stepdaughter's, the file has and unweildy number of names. What
have you all found to be the best software for finding duplicate enteriies?I'm
sure there are several, just can't track them all so far.
Thanks

Hello, All.
I use TNG, The Next Generation Genealogy Software. It's not freeI'm not familiar with that one, I'll give it a look. The soundex function hopefully does well, as I know I have an issue with viariant spellings in the file.
but the good thing is that it's web based so you can easily allow
other people to view some or all of your tree without having to import/export and the like. I use it in conjunction with ancestry
and findmypast. They give me hints and I add them to the main
tree. It's a bit more work but I'm in control of my data and who
can see it. It does have a pretty nice duplicate finder and you
can use different parameters such as complete name or soundex name search, with or without date of birth, place of birth, and other information. You should be able to find a demo at http://www.tngsitebuilding.com/ or drop me your email address and
I'll send you a screen shot of the duplicates page. --- SBBSecho 3.06-Linux * Origin: End Of The Line BBS - endofthelinebbs.com (1:124/5016)
