Greetings All!


This is a problem or anything broken, just perhaps a fine tuning Golded question. Currently messages show unsent until I close golded and go back in.
It appears that Golded doesnt send (or place to be sent) messages until you quit golded. This is fine and it isnt causing any issues, I just wonder if there is a way for that to happen upon saving the message?

You know just incase I walk away without closing golded?

GoldED doesn't send anything, but it may create semaphores and tell your tosser
to scan and send.

It's hard to tell, it's your configuration. :)

I don't need to close Golded to send this msg out.

There are different ways to do that. When I was running MagickaBBS it would create an echomail.out semaphore. I had a cronjob looking for that file and if found it would delete it and run "hpt scan". It also created netmail.out so I did the same thing and ran "hpt pack".

Currently I just run hpt scan or pack as needed but I will likely do the same for golded at some point.

golded doesn't send anything... exiting might trigger a semaphore to be touched
which might trigger a scan for outbound mail... it depends on your config... IIRC, it is possible to config golded to touch the semaphore on any saving of an echo or netmail message... in that case, the scan could happen in the background if you are using a scheduler to trigger a scan/toss with...

Golded allows configuring hot keys for running different programs or scripts. I
use Ctrl-N to send netmail and Ctrl-E to send echomail without leaving golded. There are such lines in my golded.cfg:

; repack netmail on Ctrl-N
ExternUtil 1 /path/to/setflag repack

; rescan echomail on Ctrl-E
ExternUtil 2 /path/to/setflag rescan

The setflag script creates a flag file, which initiates packing netmail or scanning message base for new echomail. And in goldkeys.cfg I have

^N ExternUtil01
^E ExternUtil02

Rescan the messages with CTRL-S.
Naturally you need a tosser that checks for new mails, and sends them.
