I used to have an issue with subtitles. Only because I enjoy the visuals, and it was difficult to take it in, while reading the dialog. As my hearing has gotten worse, i appreciate subtitles more.

Some films just do the subtitles poorly: print too small, or not enough contrast (white on white is pathetic!) I'd spend way too much time stop-starting those films so that I could have time to read those things properly.
But Run Lola Run is mostly action. the dialog is short and easy to glance at the subtitle and get back to the visual. I remember watching that thing several times. First, primarily to get the "story" in dialog, and then next to enjoy the filming and artistry.
The film gets off to a fast build-up of excitement within the first 5 minutes. Lots of running scenes with the camera following the action. It feels like a wild ride. Consequences of "correction" trigger new consequences. Very funny too.
