Scott Bessent is a jerk

Now, the fact that he's a conceited jerk isn't really relevant in itself. But... he's also incorporating his conceit into his policies. He's simply telling European countries not to sell their US Treasuries. That's not his decision, though. That's entirely up to the Europeans themselves. He could have asked, but he thought he could impose it on Europe.
Last week we saw Taco Trump again, and that has everything to do with just two bad days on the stock market. The US has to adjust its course so quickly because it's terrified that Europe might one day go through with it.
Europe holds the fate of the US in its hands. 40% of the US national debt is held by Europe.
If they sell that, the US has a serious problem. The point is: they should sell it!
It's inappropriate for them to be nice to the US while being treated like street dogs by the US. Trump just wants Greenland for a while. That's no joke. Europe shouldn't see it that way either.
If they don't teach the US to behave, the US will continue to act like a bully.
Why is the stock market so extremely important to Trump?
Only thanks to the higher stock market can Trump continue to hide the disastrous consequences of his economic policy. With the higher stock market, pensions in the US will remain intact. If the stock market were to fall by 30%, many Americans would lose their pensions and their savings. You don't want that to happen heading into the midterms.
That's why you see Trump literally backtracking on the terrible presentation he gave after just two bad trading days for the major indices. He's tied hand and foot to the stock market's performance.
