is how dumb it is.

I started with Gemini asking it to create a patch to mark an abandonware game as registered and it refused.

After several attempts at forcing it, Gemini did off to assist me using a debugger to look at code and after a few hours of experimentation, not only did it write me the assembly code to patch the binary, it also wrote me a very nice lay persons guide on how it is accomplished on a generic basis.

This could open the door to finding ways to finally get abandonware games that cannot be registered by usual means into a registered status.

If anyone has any games they'd like me to attempt then let me know:
1. Download location of the latest version of the game
Note, these should be 16 bit DOS games. I'm not trying to do Windows
binaries.

2. That you have made a good faith effort to find the owner of the game

3. If the owner finds you and asks for payment, you pay up, once you've
confirmed they're legit, of course.

I'm also interested in games that are not running properly under DOSEMU2.

Thanks,

Not a game, but I'd love a nag-free TELIX. I bought it back in the day,
lost my key. There's a patch that runs to get rid of the nag screen at
exit, but it still blinks UNREGISTERED in the status line.

Download link for the latest version?

Interested to see what you could do with it...

I think I found it. Telix 3.51 for DOS? I'll take a look.

I thought 3.21 was the newest, but if memory serves, they changed the
company name and incremented the version. Either should be roughly the
same...

There are significant changes in 3.51 compared to 3.2x. The zip archive
for 3.51 has a "whatsnew" file in it.

... Gone crazy, be back later, please leave message.

I've been planning on doing something similar with: https://github.com/morluto/rea

I just haven't found anything I want to dig into yet. all the door games and stuff I have are already registered.

I've been planning on doing something similar with: https://github.com/morluto/rea

Given it has over 700 issues reported and 550+ pull requests, I'm wondering how ready it is and how it'd handle 16 bit dos binaries. You can always try it on something you don't have yet.
