Hello All,

I have (I think I have) setup my mailer here to honour file requests but I am not sure that it works. If any of you have the ability to send a file request can you try to send one to my node and let me know if it works as expected.

I have these magic names setup here..

GAMENET will get you the latest gamenet info pack
NODELIST will get you the latest nodelist
NODEDIFF will get you the latest nodediff

Also just a file from my filebase, ftnnv.zip is a JS nodelist browser for Synchronet. It is 90K. I choose that file at random, simply because I know it exists here.. :)

If anyone could test that out and let me know the result it would be appreciated.. :)

It's easy to do with FD although I don't have it setup here and don't recall exactly how I did it but I gave FD a file with a list of directories to scan for incoming file requests.

I believe FD can be setup with binkd also as an external file request processor although I have never done this. The setup might be a bit more involved but would work just as well if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not sure if Mystic can do this but Synchronet's binkit mailer does this (although untested here) with the help of additional JavaScript files.

We'd have to test all that out but I think it's doable.

You create a *.req file with the address of the system in hex, then in
that file is a list of files you want from the remote system.

If everyting is working, when your system sends that file, the remote
system should send you the files you asked for.

Yeah, I think that's it. In the case of binkd you will also need to create a .clo file to go along with it to trigger a poll.

Thanks, it's not something I ever really played with and I take it a mailer like BinkD would then pass the REQ to something like Allfix etc?

It's not something Mystic handles at present.

I used FREQ occasionally, when someone had something I really wanted/needed.

Yes, mystic isn't doing it yet, but hatching files is a step in that
direction. You have to be able to hatch files to send them to a node. Then a setup like the one currently used in messages needs to be added and you get files to a node. It is quite possible. Another likely thing is encryption since ssh is now working in mystic. Most importantly where passwords are involved.

user to user file transfer, so I can send a user a file and it not end up
in the file base.
