    Today (June 9, 2024) is the 35th anniversary of Fidonet Policy 4 - the (still current) rules for Fidonet systems.

    I wanted to write something about Policy 4 but I'm not sure what I have to add on the topic. I guess I think it's an example of the difficulty of balancing the need for structure and rules in an organization with the need for growth and adaptability.

    It also goes without saying that it's great to have people around keeping the legacy alive and sharing with others who drop in! Without that, us other old guys couldn't get back into things the way we can now. ;)

    Yeah, most of the original BBS guys are older than dirt - including
    myself. I ran a Searchlight BBS back in the early 90s. And I am
    still here, still running a BBS.

    It's fun. It's challenging. And it's an old habit that some of
    us can't shake.

    It's great to be here hanging out together too! I ran Maximus in the mid 90s, a few years later than you - so still a relative newbie. :) I did take a break of a couple decades also..
