From apam@21:1/182.1 to All on Mon Apr 8 14:33:07 2024

Been bored lately. Everything I usually do isn't really fulfilling at the moment.

I've been reinstalling OSes, am and currently on AlmaLinux, but even
that is starting to get boring - there seems to be no interesting linux distros anymore and other OSes don't seem to run well enough on my computer. Maybe I've been doing it too long.

I've set up synchronet.. it's kind of fun. I'm keen to see what they're using MQTT for. But why?

I don't have the concentration to read a book or watch a movie. Even if I did I don't seem to have a long enough uninterrupted chunk of time to do so.

Started writing a BBS in rust, but that got old pretty quickly.

Set up a minetest server again, it's just me. It's kind of fun if I can get myself motivated to play it.

Second Life is kind of dull, but I have managed to break even the last couple of months, so that's a plus (ie, it's not costing me anything as I make enough in game to pay the fees)

    Just bored I guess.

    the moment.

I was going through that here. I bought a new laptop so have everything isntalled on that and a pile of games for playing without internet. I know
I won't play them but it killed some time.

    Just bored I guess.

I do small wood carvings when I am motivated. Pretty cheap hobby as long
as you don't go overboard. :)

Watch Doug Linker on youtube as he has amazing tutorial videos that are good for beginers to advanced.

Oh, I know how that is.. have so many games I will probably never play. Seem to gravitate between a few favourites, and have a whole lot i like the idea of but can't get motivated to play.

Same here. I've been trying to liven things up with gaming, but it is really hard to find something I can get into. Right now, I'm a bit into Mechwarrior
5 Mercenaries. We'll see how long it lasts. I think it will as it's
playable, not too open world and if I get stuck I can bring in human co-op player vs. the AI.

Rust is cool, once you get the code to compile. ;)

Having said that, it is neat to see C and C++ and other languages, improve because of Rust and it's unique takes on things.

Set up a minetest server again, it's just me. It's kind of fun if I
can get myself motivated to play it.

Depending on what kind-o minetest server you're (or anyone else here is) interested in, let me know... I'm currently running a Minetest server (server.beanzilla.net default port 30000).

I've got cars, boats, planes, a helicopter, a submarine, oh and I even
got guns. (Please note, PVP fighting is enabled, and spawn is currently
bugged so you can fight/die at spawn, which isn't supposed to be allowed)
I've also got a interesting health mechanic, where geting shot,
stabbed, etc. can cause injuries that can cause you to bleedout, and when
your health drops to 0 it keeps going (like in a unconcious state).
You need someone else to patch you up with the right order of medical bandages in order to stop bleeding. (So making at least 1 alt is allowed/recommended, or have a friend you can ping to have them come heal
    you)

Or if you need any help in picking mods or have a mod you'd like to get
done up, just let me know, I've moved on to quite a collection of mods
and even done up a few modpacks.

    Take Care,
    Apollo
