Please post if you do anything with these; I like Pine64... the PinePhone is awesome and they sell a pretty nice, basic, soldering ir
I have the pinecil and the pinepower, both of which are excellent products. I can't bring myself to buy the pinephone, although it's interesting. I agree with you on the support front for the SBC;
hopefully we see some good stuff developed for it.
Just pointing out that pine64.org has a good forum community that was helpful to me when learning the PineBook Pro. If I were you, I'd pop on the PinePhone - is it a cell phone replacement in 2021? No. But it is learning and tinkering with software [and possibly hardware.. altho I think its not powerful enough to be an iPhone contender] that will become the Linux cell phone replacement soon[ish]. I literally can't wait until we get things working enough for these devices to be what I carry around daily.
BTW, if you're interested in abusing Raspberry Pis as NAS hardware, Jeff Geerling on YouTube has a ton of videos showcasing different configs.
I run a small setup using cheap [and slow] USB HDDs. I run 2 8TB drives on a
Pi 3+ and get 10mb/sec. If I ever get serious I'll throw a Pi 4 on it and hope to get around 100mb/sec. Its no Synology but it gets the job done for my current needs.
