A couple weeks ago I "discovered" a docudrama called Micro Men.
I believe that the ZX Spectrum made a cameo appearance.

Micro Men (2009) - a story about the rivalry betwen Sinclair
and Acorn computers in the UK during the PC goldrush of the
    80's:

Definitely worth a watch. I watched it yeeears ago when it first came out.
And yes, halt and catch fire is good, especially season 1. It started getting
a bit silly in s2/s3 but still watchable.

    Cheers,
    Al

Not sure how I missed this, but it sounds pretty interesting.

    Thanks for the heads-up :)

I feel the same way about getting a Speak N Spell that works... I have
one (from my childhood) but the power supply I think failed on the board and I have no way of knowing how to repair it... not really the skills
    to do so. :(

Theres a lot of info out there about repairing (and even bending/modifying) the speak n spell... sure you'd need to break out the sauder iron, but I bet one could learn that machine fairly easy. Heck, with Youtube, you can just follow along almost. :P

If I owned one I'd have to crack it open and try to get her talking again. :P

I have not found much info to solve this problem. It does not help that I am not overly confident in dealing with circuit diagrams etc. But what I have found was a badly scanned copy of the circuit for the board but little else. Lots about how to mod the board for circuit bending etc. but not much about
how to solve the problem of no power lighting up the device :(

iFixIt kinda sets one on the right path... :P If your issue is one they cover. But even if not, I've seen tons of repair guides - AND circuit bending walk throughs on Youtube... (circuit bending is when you make the speak n spell ROCK n ROLL!!!)

Thank you for the link. There's some info on the site but again it seems to
be the same stuff I've found so far. Getting it fixed is a 'nice to have' for me but at the moment not very close to the top of my to-do list :) Still I
can day dream about it :)

Nice! I'll have to check that out.

Halt and Catch Fire was pretty good. I think it was very loosely based on sone true events. But it's worth the watch.

I enjoyed Halt and Catch Fire. Mixing of TI & IBM companies along with all
the computers that they developed their online software for.

yess Halt and Catch Fire is great! the main character and the story is based mainly on several tech stars of the era. they are changing from one to another depending on where they are in the timeline. definitely worth watching it, at least the first two episodes, because after they are starting to push it to
    a love story..
