  • Kia recall

    Seems my Kia (a Sportage) is the subject of a recall so they can update a
    fuse in the car. There's an issue with some hydraulic fluid thingy (can you tell I know lots about cars - not!) and if it gets water in it, bad things, like fire could happen.

    I rang the dealer and when parts arrive I'm one of about 500 they have to get in to update a part :)

    Only $500? Count yourself lucky. But I thought all aspects of
    a recall should not cost the owner anything.

    My 12yr old Rav4 has recently had a rear suspension, 2x shocks,
    4x rotors, 2 isolators, 2 calipers, and 4x brakepads
    replacement diagnosis.

    Estimate = $2900

    The work was done in about 8 hours. It was announced ready
    today (Friday), but when they went to back it out of the work
    bay, the brake line burst - due to excessive corrosion
    somewhere.

    I'm without a vehicle for at least until Monday when they may
    or may not get the parts they need.
