I've opted to cancel my sub for this service for the time being. I honestly can't find very much of worth to watch on it these days. It seems to be limited in it's title choices too with little new stuff coming out that I would like.

Netflix is very much geo-locked. Depending on which country your IP address
is registered to, you'll get very different experiences. And, for no obvious reason at all ;) , the US version is where all the new stuff gets released first...

And, they're pretty strict against using proxies or VPNs to get around their BS...

Besides, if you want to watch a show, there are still free sources, if you
    look hard enough...

My father just dropped Amazon Prime because everything they have is either crap or shit. Or is behind a secondary paywall.

We have a MASSIVE DVD library. We also have a MASSIVE VHS library (which we have digitized) so it does not make any sense to pay for crappy content. Specially because most content placed in streaming platforms nowadays are shovelware (stuff lumped into the platform with no regard towards its quality).

I know people keeps saying optical media is obsolete, but the more I suffer streaming services, the more I miss the DVD stores I used to visit as a kid. Nowadays only online sellers remain with good catalogues.

You know, one of the reasons why I like Alpha Video (a publisher of public domain films) is that they don't do goe-pricing. The DVDs are region 0 (worldwide use). Period.

The day I discovered Amerigeddon was not available in Amazon Prime Spain I was turned quite sore against the service.

I have too.. I just wasn't watching anything on netflix and let it lapse. No one in the house has noticed either so I suspect others weren't using it either.

If I have a need I'll hook up again but I don't think that is going to happen any time soon.

I have been comparing the NZ and USA flavours but still discounted keeping it. Yeah, perhaps my tastes are just not those of the folks that program the content released on Netflix.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. I have been watching Pluto TV lately so I can keep up with Star Trek Discovery and that's been quite a nice platform to watch stuff

The only thing I think I wanted to watch on Amazon was The Expanse... which I think I saw 2 seasons on Netflix then it disappeared off to Amazon... I think... but that was not enough to get me to pay to join that platform.

They really pushed the former Top Gear guys as the reason to sign up, but I found them ho hum and have not been motivated to watch the old show in a new guise either on Amazon or the current BBC version of top gear...

I totally agree, and wish my DVD library was better than it is.

I do too, we lost our last one here in Dunedin only in the last 24 months :(

Let me know if you recommend any good online sellers... although I may have issues with either regional locking or just getting it shipped here I guess :)

I was watching Lost in Space (and enjoyed the whole three seasons) but once that ended, yep I was like, Hmmmm.... and thankfully my wife was also of the same view.

In any regard we can always pick it up again for a month or two if a show that I really wanted to watch came out.

I think they hope that folks on auto renew tend to forget about it and just let it roll <--- that was me :)

There's an Expanse Season 6 out now on Prime -- the final season! One of
the best Sci Fi shows on TV of late, IMHO. I'll miss it...

Season 6, wow... it did do well. One day I might be able to get it on some old school DVD box set... he says hopefully.

I am afraid the best ones are Spain only, and are slowly migrating to bluray (which I despise).

I get a lot of stuff from Oldies.com, but only because I am a sucker for old movies and series of the 50s. They have plenty DVDs which are no region
locked, and offer discounts for bulk purchases. The bad news is shipping may get expensive.

The only thing I think I wanted to watch on Amazon was The Expanse...

That would have been my only reason to watch on Amazon. I waited until
Season 4 (the first Amazon season) came out on DVD and bought it. It was cheaper than a subscription (although the DVDs will only play in a DVD
player and cannot be ripped to a home streaming system).

Season 4 came out on DVD about the time Season 5 started streaming. Season 6 has started now, but no S5 DVD set yet.

If we weren't using someone else's account we would've ditched it a long time ago. I don't even bother to look at what's on Netflix now. I only have Amazon Prime and I barely watch that. There's a channel on cable that plays all versions of Star Trek from 9pm to 2am... that and Adventure Time on HBO Max
is all we watch; except for the occassional nature/alien show.
