I started my BBS decades ago using a few of those, but went full-force with Spitfire (as a dial-up).
A decade or two later, and I was able to locate WildCat! which allowed multi-nodes easier and you could add a package to allow Internet Telnet. Fast forward to more recently, and I came across Mystic!
I enjoy it tremendously as it is very easy to setup and allows Telnet with today's technology. And, ... here I am :)
Thats good to hear, although I must admit, I do not remember the original message of mine you are referring to.
I was a huge fan of Searchlight and TBBS, but stuck with Renegade through thick and thin.
When I finally was able to obtain the source code, and when I saw the dissappointing direction the developers of Renegade were taking things at the time, I made a painful decision to go about things "on my own" and essentially remained on a specific build of Renegade, refusing to upgrade.
That was 2003, 2004 I believe; and 15 some odd years later, I maintain all aspects of my Renegade system on my own. Any bugs, I have to fix myself.
I am one of the last remaining Renegade systems on the planet.
