Besides the usual suspects like Mystic and Synchronet, what other BBS software is being actively developed.
I know apam is doing great things with Magicka, but is there anything
else that people know of?
There's a couple. I know that NuSkooler is still working on ENiGMA1/2. Apam is also working on Titan. I think someone is still semi-actively working on WWIV. And I think that MBSE is still semi-active.

There's also a new PCBoard being written from scratch, and looks remarkably spot-on.
I'm developing what I call ANSItex - which is a fusion of ANSI and Videotex.

Mercyful Fate is also working on Obv/2. I thought apam was working on Magicka. Is Tital an additional project?
Apam is working on both. Titan started out as an ASCII only, but I think he has added ANSI to it now.

Was that similar to Teletext but for computers?

That sounds interesting. :)

I'm actually a bit tired of bbs coding. Besides Titan and Magicka I wrote
It was. Teletex was normally one way - you select a page (or options on
a page) to navigate.
Yeah, it uses ctrl-a codes, a bit like synchronet but different codes, to display colour where it is supported. It also auto detects ansi now (something magicka doesn't do, but magicka doesn't work without ansi anyway).
I'm actually a bit tired of bbs coding. Besides Titan and Magicka I wrote a Java based BBS, a python based BBS and started on a dos bbs using openwatcom as a compiler. The Java / Python ones aren't available, and (the java one) probably doesn't work anymore anyway, and I think I accidently deleted the dos one. :(
Right now, I'm working on a bash script to extract articles from an html file by date. I'm really not liking sed right now... It's not
cooperating with me at all... :(

Have you considered perl? It is a great alternative, which IMO, is more flexible and powerful. I wrote the binkd.log parser in perl.

Oz Nixon is rewriting this BBS using Modern Pascal. I will be hosting
the Alpha test board hopefully sometime in August. This project is open source. All contributions are welcome.

That is awesome news. Please feel free to use SciNet as a discussion environment. I can easily add a support echo for it.

Is there any ppe backwards compatibility? /THAT/ would be super
awesome :P
I have read elsewhere (in some Fido echos and on Facebook) that
PPEs will no longer be used. There is some mechanism for add-ons,
but it is not PPEs.
Ah, bummer. Honestly that'd be the only reason I might be interested. Without PPE backwards compatibility, I don't personally see much point. *shrug*

What is PPE?
PPE is a "PCBoard Programming Executable" - it's a compiled PPL (PCBoard Programming Language) file, sometimes PPS ("" "" Script). It's an extremely powerful PCBoard modding language that was used to extend the usability of PCBoard and make it attractive to "scene" boards.
I understand the board being opensource means things are possible, but
the far more interesting thing to me would be resurrecting these old
mods.

Sounds like it'd be something useful.
One piece of good news is that it runs on Linux (and/or Windoze).
Have you ever heard of TeeFax? It is a project to recreate Teletext on a Raspberry Pi. I have it here running on a pi, just for nostalgia.
While I have emulated the original Videotex service (which is 40 cols), I'm rengineering it to work with 80 cols and ANSI.

Yep, WINServer, which is what I use, is still actively developed. I run the latest alpha version of WINServer 8.x.

That's great to see. I wonder how big the WC sysop base is. I know it had it's dedicated following years ago.
Yeah, there are still a decent number of us out there. A lot of us
(like myself) have taken WINServer to the point of being modded so much
it does not look like your traditional WINServer board anymore :) I
even got rid of all the pee yellow on my screens :)
I don't have wildcat, but always had a soft spot for it. I did have wildcat 4 running, for a bit but it was only single node. Just can't afford the new wildcat. I'm sure the price always comes up in a discussion about it, though I suppose it keeps it exclusive. Some
people can afford expensive train sets for their hobby.
