I haven't seen this before...but now I'm curious :) I've opened a tab in my web browser and may or may not get to messing around with it lol. But I'm interested to test this out.
I got it to run, but it only displays on the sysop side. I'm not sure if there's more than just ascii text at play, or what.
After I posted that message, I remembered where I saw the "Old DOS games" section: It's on Doorparty.
I always thought it would be cool to run Dopewars as a door. No dropfile needed; it's all about the high scores list, just like arcade games.
I do run zork (and zork-like) games natively though, have you seen
those? No need to emulate dos, you can run those natively in linux using frotz.
I've never seen zork and never used frotz. I read about it a little, but I don't know anything about the Z-Machine or anything. It sounds like it's something that predates DOS?
I was happy to discover that dosbox will run dopewars.exe though. So if
doorway would do it's thing, then I'd have a really cool door game to offer.
I'll check with Maskreet and/or eChicken to see how he's running these other old DOS games on his gameserver. If he gets back to me on it, I'll post
details back on this thread.
