How costly are materials? I'm happy to chip in.
Dirt cheap. The piece they're asking for is basically a plastic headband, which won't use much material at all. I could probably print 75 of them for $25 CAD or so. I already have lots of filament long-since paid for, including a "free" spool that came with my printer, still unopened.
So, the money's no problem. It's just a matter of the time required to produce them (for me, about 37 minutes apiece). The more people churning them out, the better.

They supply the plastic sheets that comprise the actual shield, and the elastics (to hold them onto someone's head).
