I doubt it will foster empathy, hover it may cause some of us introverts to change. I like people but value my privacy and space. But, as of late have felt very alone and isolated. I recently thought to myself that if this contines for another year, I'll be out hugging random people when this is all over.

My gf is very extroverted but she's adapted well enough for now. The
only thing is that she talks my ear off all hours of the day and I
can't get any time to myself. But I love her and it's ok and she knows when I'm shutting down lol.

I think this is effecting the poor extroverts the worst. As for you and your GF.. hang in there, being her rock during all this will only serve to strengthen your relationship. Providing, the 'cabin fever' doesn't cause one or both of you to turn against the other.

But I see complaints of folks that struggle to work when stuck home
alone and thrive in an office environment. I'm very hopeful now they
know how different these worlds can be and that people like me will
have more respect when it comes to telework requests in the future.

I was sent to work from home due to downsizing before the pandemic, and some of my co-workers didn't cope well. Me, I handle being on my own pretty well. It's just me and my cat 'Buddy' and he's starting to get tired of my clingy-ness. So, I'm back in the land of BBS's to get some human interaction.

I think if companies notice that working from home was a successful move you may not see a full scale reversal once this is over..

Also why does pandemic and panda-medic make me laugh...
